Responsibilities

ESS Laboratory is seeking a Lab Analyst to prepare and analyze samples using approved, established SOPs with strict adherence to ESS Laboratory Assurance Manual. The position is based out of the Cranston, RI office.


 


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Prepares and analyze samples using approved, established SOPs with strict adherence to ESS laboratory’s Quality Assurance Manual.  Performs peer review to ensure unimpeachable data quality.  Participates in SOP and method development.

  • Under general supervision, performs assigned tasks following method protocols from the EPA, state agencies, and ESS Laboratory

  • Interprets data and reports data in accordance with ESS Laboratory procedures.

  • Follows all relevant QA/QC policies found in the QA/QC manual.

  • Participates in the management of hazardous waste by ensuring hazardous waste is properly stored and disposed of. Responsible for proper disposal of samples, digestates, extracts and reagents into satellite containers.

  • Actively participates in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment that is in compliance with the requirements of ESS Laboratory’s Health and Safety Program (and any additional requirements demanded by local laws and regulations).

  • Responsible for accurately preparing standards and reagents in accordance with ESS Laboratory’s SOPs.

  • Performs routine sample analysis/processes in accordance with ESS Laboratory’s SOPs including, but not limited to, sample preparation.

  • Reviews and validates data acquired from methods for which they are qualified.

  • Performs routine instrument maintenance as specified by supervisor or ESS Laboratory’s SOPs.

  • Maintains gas supplies (where applicable).



Position Type:




  • This is a full-time position, 1st shift hours, 8:00am - 5:00pm 

  • The average work week is 40-45 hours depending on business needs



Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Exceptional attentiveness to detail, with ability to learn and understand technical terms 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work with chemical and solvents 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work effectively with high volumes, meet short deadlines, and take direction.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
