Responsibilities

The Field NDE Technician will be responsible to perform nondestructive examinations (Visual, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic Techniques and Metallurgical Analysis) and surface preparations on power boilers, pressure vessels, power piping, steam turbines, and related critical components.   This is a temporary, seasonal position.  Travel is required.

  

  • Responsible for visual, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle and ultrasonic testing.
  • Learn and apply NDE reporting standards 
  • Interpret, evaluate, communicate and report findings to Field Engineer or Project Manager
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
  • Support the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries
  • Assist in training and developing others within the team
  • Assist in other field projects, including welding, post-weld heat treatment, hanger adjustments/replacements, catalyst change-outs, etc.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions
  • Sufficient physical agility to work from ladder and scaffolding 
  • Sufficient manual dexterity
  • Capable of lifting objects without specific limitations.
  • Ability to work within confined spaces
  • Accommodate overnight travel requests
  • Strict adherence to TEI safety processes and procedures
  • Previous experience performing nondestructive testing
  • ASNT Level II, OSHA-10/OSHA-30, API, or related certifications are a plus.
  • Any experience in Ultrasonicc Shearwave or Phased-Array Examinations is a major plus.
